Office Makeover One Room Challenge – Week Three

It’s been a rough week three of the One Room Challenge over at the Jones House. We’ve hit some major roadblocks this week – but hoping we can conquer these obstacles and get back on track for week four. I’m sharing some of our frustrations and (on a happier note) some fun modern office decor accessories for the office!

Overcoming Obstacles in Home Reno Projects

Week three did not turn out the way I thought it would.

Disappointment, frustration, and miscommunication are three words I’d use to sum up my week three of the One Room Challenge.

I had plans for this week. I had a list of to-dos that needed to be checked off. Installs that needed to be completed. But nothing really went according to “my perfect ORC plan”

But honestly – When does everything go perfectly planned in a renovation project??

Items that were supposed to work, didn’t. Communication with third parties got lost in translation and didn’t pan out. Some of our install plans backfired, and we’re scrambling to find alternatives. But hey, that’s what comes with a big reno project right?? Rarely does everything go perfectly smooth and according to plan. Sometimes you gotta back pedal, change your course, and alter your vision to find out what will work.

So that’s where I’m at today. A room that still looks the same as week two (except for a little tape on the walls and floor). With a plan that needs some changing, shifting and altering. And that’s OK!

If I’ve learned anything from the houses I’ve staged, homes we’ve flipped, and our own home reno projects – don’t let the hardships take over – overcome them and design something even greater. It’s how you overcome these obstacles that matter. Yes, when things don’t work out it can really suck. But it also pushes me to get a little out of my comfort zone, think outside the box, and use my creative muscles to think of something better.

So! In the meantime, I thought I’d start looking at some of the smaller details for the office space. These are the really fun items I get excited about! I made a couple collages of office decor, desk accessories and office organization items I’ve been eyeing.

Modern Office Decor

There’s SO much fun feminine office decor out there!

Does cute office accessories make anyone else giddy? Or is that just me? Something about office supplies and cute desk accessories makes me happy! I like to think it makes me more productive during the work day – at least that’s what I tell myself! It definitely makes working more fun.

I’m so excited to decorate my work space with some stylish office decor, but also not break the bank with all these decor items. I searched around the web and found lots of options for desk and office decor that is stylish but also affordable! I love the mixture of blush pink, gold and acrylic for a modern feminine look. Now I’ve gotta narrow it down so my desk isn’t too cluttered – decisions decisions!

Chinoiserie Chic Pillows

This may seem odd to have so many pillows I’m thinking about for an office makeover! But lately I’ve been thinking about adding a bench or chaise lounge chair to the office as an extra “lounge spot” to work from. I have a few upholstered benches in storage from staging, so I think I might grab one of those and decorate it with some cute chinoiserie chic pillows!

I love the mixture of the greek key, bright bold colors and whimsical designs on all of these! They have a feminine and preppy feel, but also classic and elegant too. I’m thinking about getting a monogram pillow with “WTJ” for We’re the Joneses, and putting it on my office chair. My bench is only so big, so I’ll have to narrow the rest down to just a few – which are your favorites??
