It’s finally December!
I love this time of year with all the magic of twinkle lights and season of love and giving. I am so excited to show you our home decorated for the holidays this year. I’ve joined 50 bloggers to share our holiday home tours with you hosted by my friend Krista from The Happie Housie. If you came over from Laura from Inspiration for Moms, Welcome! I’m so glad you are here!
I hope you enjoy our colorful whimsical home decorated for Christmas. My Christmas decor is a little unconventional, but I love the cheerful merry & bright feel each room brings. And I hope you love our whimsy holiday style too! I’ll be sharing our open foyer into our dining room, then our open concept kitchen and living room, and lastly our master bedroom. Stay awhile, and I hope you enjoy!
MERRY & BRIGHT CHRISTMAS FOYER
My Christmas foyer is all sorts of bright & cheery and I’m digging it!
I used a lot more bright colors this year for Christmas decor including bright pinks, blues and greens. And I love the fun preppy combination these three colors bring together! When you walk in our front door, you will see our biggest tree at the curve of our foyer under the stairs. This curved wall with pink floral wallpaper is a special focal point of our home, and I felt the tree needed to match it’s fun whimsical style this year. I’ve used this galvanized tree collar around this tree for a couple years now and it never felt like it meshed with my decor style. This year I decided to spray paint it hot pink and voila! Instantly transformed our Christmas tree.
On the opposite wall are builtin shelves I filled with pink and blue Christmas decor. Framing out the shelves is the DIY pink ombre wreath I made a few weeks ago. I feel like the wreath is the perfect focal point for this builtin wall and mirrors the same decor on the opposite side.
I also decorated a smaller flocked tree in our dining room with a fun combination of bright lime green and shimmery white. I’ve never decorated for Christmas with this color combo before, but since we recently painted our buffet table a chartreuse green it seemed fitting! I love all the bright holiday decor up against the dark navy walls. The dark and moody wall color helps balance out all the colorful Christmas decor in the room.
WHIMSICAL CHRISTMAS KITCHEN DECOR
When you walk past our foyer you will come into our open concept living room and kitchen. In these two rooms I decorated with softer romantic shades of blush pinks, rose golds, pale blues and whites. Last year we painted our kitchen ceiling a pale blush pink and I love using shades of blush to bring your eye up to the ceiling. Most of the Christmas decor in the kitchen is pretty simple with garlands and mini wreaths. I attached Christmas garland to our two gold lantern chandeliers over the kitchen island. Then I added mini wreaths to the backs of the kitchen barstools and in front of the kitchen cabinets. Adding mini wreaths and garlands is an easy but impactful way to bring Christmas decor to your kitchen decor, and always my go-to for this open space.
I also decorate a 2 foot flocked tree in the living room. This is what I call my “bow and tassel” tree and is super feminine and girly with shimmery bow ornaments and pink and blush tassels. I bought these adorable pastel light up Christmas houses this year that I think are SO cute! They were the perfect addition to frame this feminine style Christmas corner in the living room.
COLORFUL CHRISTMAS DECOR IN MASTER BEDROOM
The last room on our holiday home tour is our master bedroom. I decorated our bedroom with a Christmas color I usually never use – red! I’m more of a pastels and pinks lover when it comes to decorating but I got the Christmas red itch this year. Our tropical master bedroom with mint green palm leaf mural backdrop seemed like the perfect room to decorate with red this year. I love the combination of mint green + reds with a touch of blush pink sprinkled in too. These colors together make my Christmas heart so happy!
I added simple touches of red to our bed with Christmas pillow cases and a Christmas throw pillow. I also bought a few frosted red hydrangea stems to add to our blush pink and rose gold vases, and a light up red ribbon to our new pom pom wreath. The “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” framed art is a piece my mother in law bought me in Canton, TX several years ago – I wish I remembered the shop she bought it from! Canton Trade Days shoppers, if you recognize this piece and who it came from let me know!
